چکیده

Sufficientarian theories of distributive justice are often considered to be vulnerable the ‘blindness inequality and other values objection’. This objection targets their commitment holding moral irrelevance requirements above absolute thresholds advantage, making them insufficiently sensitive egalitarian concerns that do have relevance for justice. paper explores how sufficientarians could reply this objection. Particularly, I claim that, if we accept force aforementioned comes from relational, not distributive, inequalities, different strategies open in order these concerns. Drawing on recent literature about relation between relational egalitarianism, possibility reducing one other, ‘internalizing’ ‘externalizing’ a sufficientarian framework explored. In turn, suggest both fail standard versions, but argue particular ‘hybrid view’ is an attractive candidate theorist.

Sufficiency and Jensen's Inequality for Conditional Expectations

For finite sets of probability measures, sufficiency is characterized by means of certain positively homogeneous convex functions. The essential tool is a discussion of equality in Jensen's inequality for conditional expectations. In particular, it is shown that characterizations of sufficiency by Csiszhr's f-divergence (1963, Publ. Math. Inst. Hung. Acad. Sci. Ser. A, 8, 85-107) and by optimal...
